The Museum is open for Summer Hours


Spring Member and Guest Tour - April 18, 2008

  • Leave the Museum grounds at 1 p.m. - car caravan
  • First stop is Dodge Counties original Poor Farm where we will hear the stories of the origin, history and see artifacts still there
  • Second stop is the Wasioja Cheese factory where the Bartels will give history of the building, it's impact on Wasioja and their special landscaping progress.

The tour should take no more than 2 1/2 hours.

In 2007

  • Earlene King, was hired as Museum Director.
  • A collection policy was adopted
  • A grant was awarded by the Minnesota Historical Society to automate the accessioning of artifacts.
  • May - A Quarry and Cave Tour for members. Over 50 attended.
  • May -Students toured the museum. Over 20 volunteer's helped with the tours.
  • June - A book about the history of the Dodge County Fair was published and distributed to all Dodge County residents. A project to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Dodge County Fair.
  • June - A tour of Wasioja. Over 800 attended. I don't think we have heard the last about Wasioja.
  • July - The HS's display in the spruced up log cabin celebrated the 150th Dodge County Fair.
  • September - Zumbro Bend Rendezvous. Over 1000 students attended the two education days and as many the public days.
  • September - a picnic for everyone that volunteered in 2007.
  • November - Annual Fundraising Harvest Wine Tasting and Silent Auction.
 
 

 

Summer hours will begin on May 6th - Tuesday through Saturday - 10 a.m. - 4 p.m..

The May  Meeting of the Historical Society will be held on the 15th.  7 p.m. at the Log House on the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Kasson.  Call Earlene at 635-5508
